What documents are available
The following documents are available through the Find Authorisations service:
- Licence and Registration level authorisation documentation, including new authorisations and changes to existing authorisations that SEPA has issued since 1 November 2025 under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR) – Industrial Activities, Water Activities and Waste Activities.
- Monitoring/environmental reports, known as ‘data returns’, submitted by operators of EASR activities from 1 November 2025.
- Licence level authorisation documentation, including new authorisations and changes to existing authorisations that SEPA has issued under the Pollution Prevention & Control (Scotland) Regulations 2012 (“PPC” Part A) – Industrial Activities.
- Key PPC Part A documentation received or issued by SEPA prior to January 2021 and now published has been subjected to a verification process prior to being published.
- Monitoring/environmental reports known as ‘data returns’ submitted by operators of PPC Part A activities from 2024 onwards.

Licence level authorisation documents, including new authorisations and changes to existing authorisations that SEPA has issued since January 2021 for:
- Licences under the Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 ("the 2011 regulations" or "CAR") - Water activities
- Other permits under the Pollution Prevention & Control (Scotland) Regulations 2012 ("PPC" Part B) - Industrial activities
- Licences under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Part II) and Waste Management Licencing (Scotland) Regulations 2011 ("WML") – Waste activities

Registration level authorisation documents, including new authorisations and changes to existing authorisations that SEPA has issued since February 2024 excluding any issued via the digital online application system for:
- Registrations under the Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 (“the 2011 regulations” or “CAR”) – Water activities
The following documents are available through the Find applications service:
- Licence and Registration level application documentation that SEPA has received since 1 November 2025 under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR) for any application undergoing determination for Industrial Activities, Water and Waste or a combination of these activities.
What documents are not available
Some documents are not available to view online. For more information on what these are and how to request them are available on our “Public Register” website in the “Requesting register documentation that is not available online” section.
Documents not available through the Find Authorisations service:
When searching the service for authorisation data, if no documents are available this may be for various reasons.
- In limited circumstances there may be legal reasons why the documentation has not been published.
- In general, documentation received or issued before 1 January 2021 is not readily available. If such documentation is requested, we will provide the best information we currently have available but can’t confirm it is complete or accurate. Any use made of this information will be at the requester’s own risk. You can request this documentation through our access to information service.
Documents not available through the Find applications service:
- In limited circumstances there may be legal reasons why the documentation has not been published.
- Some documents may not be published due to the sensitive nature of the content such as personal data or commercial confidentiality. These documents can be requested through our access to information service.
